Unstandardized Choropleth Maps

Source: http://chandoo.org/wp/2009/07/24/medicare-chart-critique/

Unstandardized Choropleth maps are different because they are unable to to compared. They do not use a standardized measurement when displaying their data. For example, the map I have included is the health care costs for the U.S. It does not compare it to the population in the area, so the numbers are not able to be compared. In that sense they are meaningless. The map I posted for Standardized Choropleth maps is different because it posted the data and compared it to the county populations. It was then standardized, unlike this map of health care costs.
