Proportional Circle Maps

Source: https://www.e-education.psu.edu/natureofgeoinfo/book/export/html/1553

Proportional circle maps are similar to dot distribution maps, however, instead of multiple dots in certain locations, these maps use one dot sized according to their numeric value.  In this map, the state of California has the largest dot, representing Hispanic population of 10,000,000. This is much easier to determine than the state having 10,000,000 small dots on the map. Other states have much smaller dots, meaning the state as a whole has a lower population of hispanics. These maps have a much more simplistic look, with the dot located in the center of the area which it represents.
