Cadastral Maps

Source: http://www.fao.org/docrep/006/v4860e/v4860e03.htm

Cadastral maps are slightly different than some of the maps I have shared so far. While they look similar to typical maps, they are displaying a section of land for a purpose. They are used to show the value of land, the ownership of land, and the rights to access land. Cadastral maps are only required to be planimetric maps- they do not need to show topographic relief.

This map I have selected is not very detailed, because it is not depicting an actual area. Rather, it is a created example to show how areas are boundaries. In addition, you can see that these boundaries are not very large. They represent smaller areas. Generally, Cadastral maps are at scales between 1:500 and 1:2,500. To give a comparison, topographic maps are generally at a scale of 1:50,000.
