Dot Distribution Maps

Source: http://www-personal.umich.edu/~sarhaus/dotdensity.html

Dot distribution maps utilize dots to show quantities of sorts. They can be placed to represent exact locations, or just as a part of a quantity. Judging by the clusters on this map, the dots appear in exact location, since they are not equally distributed amongst the states. Dot distribution maps can represent just about anything. When I view this image, I cannot help but think of the Verizon Wireless commercial where they display dot distribution maps to showcase their coverage across the U.S.
