Cartographic Animations

Cartographic animations are used to display change over a period of time. Their display evolves as time passes, and notes the changes that occurred during that time. I chose to use this article and image as an example because I felt it is a great current event that displays cartographic animation. Generally, when people think of cartographic animation, they immediately think of the weather reports. This example is from an exhibit that opened on September 21, 2013, and will be open until February 16, 2014. It displays 500 years over the span of 150 maps, showing how Florida has progressed since the arrival of Ponce De Leon in 1513.
